We recognize that the Christian life is far too difficult and counter-cultural to live out on our own and that we need authentic relationships in order to work out the implications of the gospel in our lives.  That is why we offer a number of community groups that meet throughout the week at the church and in apartments around the city.

The purpose of Central’s community groups is to provide an opportunity for people of different backgrounds and perspectives to build relationships, to study the Scriptures, to pray with and for one another, to use their unique gifts to serve the city, and ultimately to experience the transforming power of the gospel so that they might grow in their faith and become more like Christ.

Moreover, though many New Yorkers are familiar with the basic tenets of Christianity, fewer and fewer people seem to have grasped the true message of the gospel.  Many have dismissed Christianity without adequately comprehending it.  Central’s community groups thus provide an ideal setting for people to consider the person of Jesus and explore his claims in a welcoming and open environment.

Below please find a current list of community groups offered by Central:

• Women's Tuesday Morning Community Group.  This group meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:45 to 11:30am in the 5th floor library.  Women from all different life stages are seeking to come together to grow in faith through Bible study, prayer and community.  Childcare is available from 9:30-11:30am.  For more information, please email Amber Ward (amberchristinaward@gmail.com).

• Weeknight Community Groups on both the east and west side are now being formed.  Please contact Steve Long (longs@mskcc.org) if you are interested in participating in an east side group or Amber Ward (amberchristinaward@gmail.com) if you are interested in a west side group.  If you have never participated in a community group, this is a great time to get involved!
