Service Opportunities

The ministry of Central simply would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of those who are willing to contribute their time and energy to the work of the church.  We are continually in need of more volunteers particularly on Sunday mornings.  At the same time, we agree with William Temple who once said, "the church is the only cooperative society in the world that exists for the benefit of those who are not its members."  We are committed to following Jesus by giving of ourselves in order to contribute to the flourishing of our friends and neighbors in New York City and around the world.

Please let us know if you would be interested in serving our church and city in any of the following ways by contacting the church office at info@centralchurchnyc.org or 212-838-0808 or by visiting our ministry contacts page to the left.

Our Church

  • Prayer. This team meets every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:00am on the 5th floor to pray for the needs of our church community and the world at large and is responsible for planning special prayer events throughout the year.
  • Greeters and Ushers. Our greeters and ushers seek to create a warm and friendly environment on Sunday mornings both before and after the service.
  • Hospitality. Our hospitality team is responsible for welcoming new people and helping to integrate them into our church community.
  • Children's Ministry. Our children's ministry volunteers are indispensable to the life of our church as they invest their time and energy in the youngest members of our church community by teaching Sunday School and assisting in Children's Worship.
  • Music. The music ministry at Central seeks to lead the congregation into authentic and meaningful worship in order to deepen our faith in Jesus and equip us to participate in his renewing work in the world.

Our City

  • Outreach. We seek to bring the whole gospel to the whole world.  Our outreach team leads the church's efforts in its mission to the city and beyond as we strive to serve others through our words and deeds, paying particular attention to the needs of the poor, marginalized, and oppressed.
  • Faith in Action. Faith in Action provides care-giving services for the elderly or disabled homebound on the upper east side of Manhattan.  These services include home visitation, telephone reassurance, respite for healthcare aides, medical escorting, and errand running.
