Since its inception in 2018, Summer Socials have provided opportunities throughout the summer months to build a community of faith within our congregation, welcome those who are new to the city and/or to church, and engage our city outside the walls of Central.
Summer Socials play a key role in advancing Central’s mission to build a strong community of faith in Jesus that enables people from diverse backgrounds to experience the transformative power of the gospel by providing opportunities to cultivate meaningful relationships. Welcoming believers and skeptics alike, these events run the gamut from park picnics to pizza making and provide an avenue to minister in an engaging way and to integrate new and existing people into the life of the church.

Friday, June 13 | Shuffleboard at Electric Shuffle
Electric Shuffle is a modern twist on the classic game of shuffleboard. Come and see why sliding pucks down a table can be surprisingly fun. No skill or experience needed — just an appetite for friendly competition! Join for an evening of fellowship over light bites, shuffleboard, and conversation! We will meet at Electric Shuffle on Friday, June 13 as early as 7:30 p.m., with a start time of 8 p.m. The cost is $30 to cover the space reservation and food. Register now for the fun! Questions? Sunday, June 22 | Central Park Picnic
On Sunday, June 22 from 12:45-3 p.m. we'll gather for a picnic in Sheep Meadow in Central Park. It’s BYOL (bring your own lunch), but feel free to also bring a snack, drink, or dessert to share if you’d like! Please bring a blanket and some games if you want! A group will leave together from Central after second service, or you can meet us under the tall trees next to the volleyball courts. We’ll try to have some balloons by the spot. Friday, July 11 | Frying Pan Happy Hour
Nothing says summer like happy hour... on a boat! Come on out to the Frying Pan (located at Pier 66; 207 12th Ave, New York, NY 10001) starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 11 to cap off the work week by hanging out with others from Central. Saturday, July 19 | Rooftop Wine Tasting - SOLD OUT
Everyone loves a rooftop in the summer, and Central is no exception! Our rooftop wine tasting Summer Social — taking place Saturday, July 19, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. — is officially sold out! We're excited to gather for a fun and relaxed tasting of summer wines coupled with meaningful conversation. We'll sample curated whites, rosés, and reds guided by a certified wine specialist while enjoying a grazing table, sunset views, and the kind of conversation that lingers. It's peak waterfront season, so why not make the most of it by grabbing some friends and heading down to the West Village for an outdoor hangout on the Hudson!
